Delete account
Last updated: 22 October 2026
This is a translation. Where it differs, the German version applies.
In the app
Profile → gear icon → Delete account
For your security you sign in once more and confirm with the word DELETE. We then delete the account right away.
What we delete
- your profile with name, username, profile picture, bio and the details from registration
- your posts, comments, reactions, poll votes and event replies
- your friendships and friend requests, who you follow and who follows you, your saved posts and blocks
- all images and files you uploaded
- your certification request and the proof you attached
- your notifications and the identifiers of your devices for notifications
- your login itself. If you signed in with Apple, we also disconnect your Apple ID.
Groups you lead
If you lead a group on your own, the app asks before deleting who should take it over, or whether the group should be deleted. If the group has other admins, the one who has been an admin the longest takes over. The same applies if you delete your account by email; if there is no admin, we ask the members one after another who will take over.
In conversations
Your messages disappear. The people you wrote with see "Message deleted" in their place and "Deleted account" as the name. Their own messages stay with them, because they belong to them.
Without access to the app
Write to support@amuslim.net from your account's email address with the subject "Delete account". We delete the account within one month and confirm it by email.
What we keep
We keep reports about content and the moderation decisions for six months after the decision, so we can answer questions from the people involved and from authorities. This also applies if the reported person deletes the post, the comment or their account: a report contains a copy of the reported text and attachment, which then sits in the decision. If you delete your account, we remove your identifier from the reports you made; the reports themselves stay until the decision. After that we delete them. This includes the hiding record that keeps a reported item out of sight for the people who reported it; it goes with your account.
If you had asked for the badge, a decision to withdraw it counts as a moderation decision and stays for six months like the others, without the name of the person who decided; their identifier is removed if they delete their own account.
The violation counter is only a number with no content, and we delete it with your account. If your account was permanently suspended, we keep a hash of your email address (SHA-256) with no time limit, so that no new account can be created with that address. It contains neither your name nor any content, and we do not store the address itself for this.
